Good morning people who give their most exuberant praise to God

Psalm 33:3 NIV Sing to Him a new song; play skilfully, and shout for joy.

Your emotions will go somewhere and be given to something.

“So why is it that many Christians believe that our best exuberant shouts of joy can’t or shouldn’t go to the Lord?”

This is not an isolated scriptural command. The Bible, especially the Psalms (but not exclusively), are filled with exhortations to praise God joyfully, loudly, with dancing, with clapping, with shouting, with loud cymbals…exuberant praise is biblical.

I have the wonderful privilege of being part of a church that embraces praise with passion. Pastor Russell Evans and the team at PlanetShakers (my home church) have had a revelation of the spiritual power of praise, and that is, praise is often a ‘sacrifice’ because we don’t naturally feel like it. And herein is part of its power! When circumstances and feelings don’t easily result in exuberant praise, yet we make a decision to do so, we are telling our bodies (the natural) to submit to our spirits – we are spiritually coming into alignment.

Don’t be afraid to let your emotions and passion bubble over and even explode in praise to your God – He is worthy of your best! In fact, sometimes this will need to be a decision, but something happens in the spiritual realm!

Go on, shout for joy to the Lord!
