Good morning people who do not place another person or thing above God
Psalm 16:2 NIV I (David) say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.”
Nothing is good compared to the Lord – nothing.
No one is good compared to the Lord – no one.
Nothing can replace the Lord in our lives – nothing.
Permit me to be really transparent with you.
I’m coming up to 23 years of marriage and I can’t articulate how much I love my precious wife Sally. I know God doesn’t have favourites, but Sally is God’s favourite (well, she’s my favourite so maybe I think she’s God’s favourite).
Yet today I felt Father prompt me that sometimes I put Sally before Him. Sometimes He invites me to spend some extra time with Him, but due to insecurity at times (I’m just being honest), as well as a deep love for Sal and desire to be with her, I choose to hang out with her rather than accept Father’s invitation.
I know there’s ‘balance’ here, because I am a very strong proponent for not sacrificing family on the altar of ministry. But this is not what I am talking about (I pray you hear my heart through my limited use of words).
I’m challenged to keep God as Number One always – yes, even above my wife. In fact, when I do, Sal is most secure because she wants her husband to be a godly man who passionately loves the Lord.
So, let me ask you: “Is God truly Number One in your life?”
