#299 – Easy To Drift

Good morning committed followers of Christ

Have you ever noticed we have a tendency to drift at times? You wake up one day and realise you haven’t read your Bible for a few days, hardly acknowledged God, haven’t exercises like you said you would and you’ve been eating far too much again. It’s easy to drift in life.

I believe living right takes focus and attention. Some things left to themselves seem to keep on going; not so the human life. Sure the body continues to age but we do not mature accidentally. At school, we need to apply ourselves. At work, we need to apply ourselves. In relationships, we need to apply ourselves. With exercise, we need to apply ourselves. With attitudes and right actions, we need to apply ourselves. It’s the same with our spiritual maturity, we need to apply ourselves otherwise we will unintentionally drift. I’ve said it before; we must live life on purpose.

1 Timothy 4:15-16 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Living right takes effort and today is a good day to commit to being diligent. So you have haven’t exercised like you said you would, start again today. You have drifted in your quiet times, spend some time with God today and reprioritise for tomorrow. You’ve noticed your attitudes and standards have started to drift and slip, stop and re-establish right boundaries today. Today is the day to move from drifting to intentionally living.
