Good morning those who honour others

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one another above yourselves.

This is a great verse and it really comes alive when you read it in several translations and paraphrases. Meditate on these and may God speak to you.

(CEV) Love each other as brothers and sisters and honour others more than you do yourself.

(GNB) Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another.

(GW) Be devoted to each other like a loving family. Excel in showing respect for each other.

(MSG) Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.

The bottom line is this passage is about thinking of others more than ourselves. I’m sure this is a challenge for all of us often. My self will is often very strong and I need God’s help to love selflessly and sincerely. The world’s way is ‘me first’ but God’s way is ‘honour one another above yourselves’.
