#221 – Increase My Faith

Good morning faith-filled people

The Bible tells us that God gives everyone a measure of faith. It also says faith is like a muscle that needs to be developed. The level of faith that we were given by God is the starting point of our faith; not the destination.

Romans 12:6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.

As I go to minister this weekend, I was asking God to give me clarity in the prophetic. I want the words God gives through me to bring encouragement and blessing. I want people to know that God cares for them personally and deeply. So my prayer was God help me to hear clearly from you. This is a good prayer and a prayer I know God will honour because of His love for His people.

But this passage came to my mind and I felt challenged. In this verse it says those with the gift of prophecy should prophesy in proportion to his faith. I felt that a better prayer was “Lord increase my faith!” If I prophesy in proportion to my faith and my faith and trust in God increases, than the flow-on affect will be that the gifts that God has given me will increase.

The same is true for you. God has given you gifts. Some of you need to discover your gifts but don’t believe the lie that says you don’t have any. There are too many clear scriptures that say God has given everyone gifts for the benefit of the Body (see scriptures below). As you move in your gifts, ask God to increase your faith. You need to stir it up. You need to be ruthless with doubt and fear. You need to take God at His Word. You need to trust and obey. As your faith increases, your gift expression will also increase and it’s all for the glory of God and the furtherance of His Kingdom.
