#2112 – Against Evidence

Good morning people who trust God and not just what they see

Isaiah 55:8-11 (NIV) For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Oh for a revelation that God does not think on the same level as we do. He does not think the same but just a little better. No, His ways are infinitely higher and better than ours. We see in part and know in part, but God knows fully, from beginning to end.

I have come to learn that an apparent discrepancy between what I read in God’s Word and what I see happening is never a lack on God’s part. This is an essential conviction to hold if you don’t want to get disillusioned in life. Compared with God, I am extremely small and my thinking is completely foolish.

This is what I know: God’s Word is always true and it will come to pass just how God intends. Now that’s the truth that I believe.

“But Steve, that’s not the reality of my life. What God said has not happened.”

I don’t have an answer for every situation, but of this I am sure – God is faithful, God is just, God is trustworthy, God is good and God is always working for our good. I’ve chosen to trust God regardless of what I see.

“Have you made the same decision?”
