#2045 – City Of Refuge

Good morning people who are safe in the arms of Father God

1 Chronicles 6:67 (NIV) In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem (a city of refuge), and Gezer,

Under the law, when people committed manslaughter, they had to flee to a city of refuge in order to be safe and free from retribution.

There were a couple of challenges. Firstly, you had to make it there without being caught and executed on the way. Secondly, if you left the city of refuge, you were fair game. A city of refuge was a safe place for someone who had committed manslaughter.

The reality is every one of us has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. We are all guilty and deserve the consequences of our crimes…

…but then comes the incredibly Good News!!!

Now under grace, God Himself is our refuge!!!

Proverbs 18:10 (NIV) The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Psalm 46:1 (NIV) God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Our righteousness comes from His works, not ours. We are not saved or safe because of what we have done, but because of the good that God has done for us! He is our refuge!!!

“Where do you go when you are in trouble?”

I encourage you to run to God and be safe in Him; otherwise you are fair game to the enemy. Run to God my friend.
