#198 – Bowing Down

Good morning God-worshipping people

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego defied the king’s orders to bow down and worship the golden image. The punishment for this was death in a fiery furnace. You and I might never be faced with something as drastic as this but I believe every one of us will have to make decisions at times who we will bow the knee to.

Will we bow down to the culture of our times or will we live by Kingdom culture?

Will we bow to the idol of busyness or will we honour times of rest?

Will we bow down to the idol of safety and security or will we fulfil the call of God even when it costs us dearly?

Will we fly under the radar as a Christian so we can fit in to the culture of this world without feeling different or will we be the salt and the light that we were commissioned to be?

The call of God is to be set apart. The call of God is to be different. We were not bought with a price to simply fit in to the world’s culture. We are in the world but should not be of the world. We have been purchased with Christ’s precious blood to live by Kingdom culture. We were not called to bow down to the pressures and systems of this world but we are called to live under the Lordship and Kingship of Jesus Christ.

The world needs to see people like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who do not bow down to anyone but God. Will you be such a one?

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.
