#149 – We Listen

Good morning people who can change

Once our hearts have been opened to God, He will start to reveal things we need to do; He will speak truth to us through His Word and people. Are you willing to listen? Are you willing to put yourself under someone who can speak into the heart of the matter? Are you willing to read the Word through the eyes of desiring truth in the inward parts? In order to hear God’s voice we need to be alone with our thoughts and give focused attention to what God is saying. Sometimes we don’t contemplate enough; we need to stop and listen.

God will always reveal the root cause; not just the symptom. Look at this example.

James 1:19 Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to become angry.

I, like a lot of people, have struggled with anger over the years. I, like a lot of people, have said with true conviction “I will not act like that again!” I, like a lot of people, have fallen down after this honest declaration. Why? Because I was trying to change behaviour without addressing the heart issue. This verse shows us anger is rooted in selfishness; I want to say my piece more than I want to listen to the person who is annoying me. I believe this verse identifies the heart issue and also gives us the key to overcoming the symptom of anger. God wants to change the selfishness, not just the anger.

Are you willing to listen to what God identifies as the heart issue? If you do, lasting change is closer than you think.
