#125 – Extremes

Good morning people with purpose

Extremes are always wrong, right? No, sometimes extreme decisions are needed in all of our lives. The problem many times is people only make extreme decisions AFTER a bad situation in order to fix it. A marriage relationship is in trouble so we do whatever we need to in order to get things sorted out. The doctor gives a diagnosis that demands extreme lifestyle changes and we do it. We work ourselves around the clock and get to a point where total burnout takes place and then extreme measures need to be taken in order to recover. You and I will make extreme decisions in our lives. Our choice is when we make them.

For some of you today, you are in tough situations that you are trying to get free from. It may be relational, emotional, financial, moral or spiritual. You have tried many things but today it might be time for you to make some extreme decisions; decisions that others might not have to but you do. Decisions that cost you greatly in the immediate but long term will bring freedom. Don’t focus on the decision; focus on the freedom that could come as a result.

For all of us there are some extreme decisions that we need to make BEFORE circumstances turn bad in order to walk in a way that pleases God. The world’s standards are not ours; God has a higher purpose for our lives and this necessitates extreme decisions in our personal lives as a preventative. Every person will have to make different choices and we must not focus on what others allow themselves to do; we must ask what God’s will is for our lives and then we must do whatever it takes to walk out that will.

Mark 8:34 (GW) Then Jesus called the crowd to himself along with his disciples. He said to them, “Those who want to follow me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me.
