Good morning loved of God

Jonah 3:10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, He had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction that He had threatened.

God had compassion on the people of Nineveh who He was going to destroy when they humbled themselves and turned from their evil ways. God changed His plans because of people’s changed hearts and lives. This is an absolutely wonderful story of grace and love. This accurately reveals God’s heart. It’s not simply to exact punishment and judgement. God’s greatest desire is reconciliation. That was His heart for the people of Nineveh, it was His heart for the children of Israel and it’s His heart for us today. What God did for the people of Nineveh He will do for you and I.

The key phrase in this verse is the ‘they turned from their evil ways’. Saying sorry is not enough. True repentance, in fact by its very definition, is to turn around and go the other way. When we do this in our lives, God is moved with compassion.
