#118 – Do It Yourself

Good morning loved of God

Jonah 1:12-13 “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied,”and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.” Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before.

Let’s look at this objectively. Jonah did the wrong thing. He knew what would save them; him ending up in the sea. He admitted it was his fault. He knew his actions were affecting others in a drastic way. Yet Jonah asked the men to throw him overboard and although they knew he was in the wrong they didn’t want to rush into causing another man’s death. As long as they delayed the storm continued. My question is this; what would have happened if Jonah had taken the responsibility to jump overboard himself at that time rather than expecting others to take the huge responsibility of throwing him overboard? Maybe the storm for those around him would have ceased quicker.

Here’s my simple challenge to all of us. Is there something that should happen that you are waiting for someone else to initiate yet it’s your responsibility? Maybe today you should do it yourself. I believe God will move as you take this step. God bless you.
