#117 – Running Away

Good morning loved of God

I was reading the book of Jonah and I felt the Holy Spirit draw my attention to several things. I want to share one thought per day for the next week and I pray that they bless you as we learn together and let the Word transform our minds and our lives.

Jonah 1:1-3 The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai; “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

Jonah ran away from what the Lord had asked him to do. What God asked him was clear but something in Jonah kicked against God’s Word. Many are still running today. God has spoken clearly to many hearts; some have embraced God’s Word and some are struggling to accept it and walk in it. There are many reasons why people run from what God says; fear, laziness, past hurts, selfishness, unbelief, doubt and uncertainty. I want to acknowledge that life can be difficult but I also want to love enough to say running from God never ends well. The reason for this is God knows best and His ways are always better than ours. God loves you dearly and He always has your best in mind. We might not understand but I encourage you to put your trust completely in Him and commit to allowing God’s Word to direct and consequently empower your life.

God bless you very much today.
