#5678 – Reclaiming Firstfruits

Good morning people who always remember that God Almighty is your Provider.

Deuteronomy 26:9-11 NIV He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey; and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, Lord, have given me. Place the basket before the Lord your God and bow down before him. Then you and the Levites and the foreigners residing among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household.

We need to continually remind ourselves that our provision comes from the Lord. He is the one who blesses us with gifts and abilities and jobs. He is the one who blesses us with time and energy and callings. He is the one who gives us the very breath of life and sustains us moment by moment. Without God, we wouldn’t exist.

Therefore, everything comes from God, and everything belongs to Him. Everything is for the glory of God – this is the purpose of our lives; to glorify God.

And this brings me to the truth about firstfruits. We see it more in the Old Testament, but it is a biblical principle that Father wants us to reclaim today, not just in certain areas of life, but as a way of living. Let me explain.

I believe we are called to live like everything comes from God, because it does. This simple truth would change our lives and how we live.

An expression of living with this belief will be seen in an intentional focus of giving the first of everything to the Lord as an act of worship.

What could life look like if we gave the first moments of our day to the Lord in conversation and adoration?

What could life look like if we gave the first tenth of “our income” (which is actually God’s provision) back to Him as an act of worship-filled obedience?

What areas of your life does God want you to reclaim a firstfruits focus in?
