#5679 – Reclaiming Dependence

Good morning people who cannot even take a breath today outside of God’s enabling.

Acts 17:24-25 NIV The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

Acts 17:28 NIV For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’”

We need God – fully, always, for everything. I’ve said this statement many times, but I believe it more than ever.

Self-sufficiency is not a quality to be applauded. Being able to do everything by ourselves is not in accordance with how God created us. Many pursue it today and pride themselves on being “self-made” in business or “self-taught” in education and knowledge. It’s not God’s way.

A mark of godliness is dependence upon God for everything.

A mark of godly dependence puts God first in their day – and second and third and fourth. God is not a sprinkling on top of what we do. He is not an add-on or an afterthought. He is our all-in-all.

We need Him in our working and in our resting. We need Him in our business meetings and our planning sessions. We need Him in ourelders meetings and in our board meetings. We need Him in our music practice and in times of leading worship. We need God.

Are there areas of your life where you live independent from God?

It is time to reclaim a life that is lived completely dependent upon God.
