#5081 – No Treaty

Good morning people who see the enemy’s plans for what they are.

1 Samuel 11:1-3 NIV Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Jabesh Gilead. And all the men of Jabesh said to him, “Make a treaty with us, and we will be subject to you.” But Nahash the Ammonite replied, “I will make a treaty with you only on the condition that I gouge out the right eye of every one of you and so bring disgrace on all Israel.” The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Give us seven days so we can send messengers throughout Israel; if no one comes to rescue us, we will surrender to you.”

Firstly, this is a crazy story! I mean, who would consider a treaty that included your right eye being gouged out?! Well, the men of Jabesh did because the alternative was worse – death!

Secondly, I feel there is a real word of warning from God for some of us today.

Nahash means serpent. The devil is also known as the serpent.

It is a foolish thing to ever try and make a treaty with the enemy and to make yourself subject to him. Whatever he promises to give you will always come at a great cost and personal loss. In fact, death will always be the result.

The devil never speaks the truth. He is the father of lies and he is powerful in deception. His desire is to steal, kill and destroy. So whatever he promises, shut the door quickly!

We live in a time where I believe too many are being sucked in by the devil’s lies due to the compelling nature of his story telling or his scare tactics.

These are days to turn to God and to call upon Him to rescue and to save! He is the way, the truth and the life! He is who we need and He has what we need.

May we all embrace God fully and walk in the life that He desires for us.
