#4912 – Heavenly Realms

Good morning people who think about the Father and the Son.

Colossians 3:1-2 NIV Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

The eternal spiritual realm is what should get our affection and our attention.

But how does this happen?

I think Paul gives us the key by stating it is where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

In the simplest of words, we are called to have our affection and our attention on God Himself. I know we “know this”, but do we really know this? And do we live this way? Too often I don’t.

And it’s not just on what He is doing on the earth. It is focused on who He is, and also where He is now.

Jesus is seated in heavenly places! This talks about His absolute authority and His victory over Satan; over sin, death and disease. This is talking about His kingdom rule.

And He is seated beside God the Father. The Son and the Father are reunited after the most agonising of separations; a separation that brought us eternal life.

If these few sentences leave you with more questions than answers, that is great! Now follow those questions upward and God-ward. This is all about a journey of discovering and knowing God on deeper levels through divine revelation. This all comes to the hungry of heart and the passionate of pursuers.

Let this be us today.
