#4913 – Set and Reset

Good morning people who continually come back to spiritual truth.

Colossians 3:1-2 NIV Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

When we set concrete, that’s it, it is set. You can’t unset it (at least I don’t think you can). It is solid, it is stable, it is now concrete.

But with our hearts and minds, we need to set them on things above, and then reset them again, and again, and again.

Earthly things can consume us. Problems, challenges, difficulties, pain, suffering and loss can all pull us downward and inward. I don’t think this is a sign that any of us are bad or off track, but rather that we are human and we are on this journey.

So, for me, I know that resetting once is not enough. I leak. I drift. I doubt. I get distracted.

And so, let’s not give up. Let’s not step back. Let’s not have a pity party, a victim mentality or focus on woo is me. (I write this because there are times when this is my response).

In these times of an awareness that we have drifted, simply reset. That’s it.

We don’t have to go back, repay, regain, work out, fix up, atone for… We just need to reset our hearts and minds to where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

In this place of having been reset, if the Holy Spirit prompts you to repent of something, do it. Otherwise, keep your hearts and minds on the eternal spiritual heavenly reality of God.
