#4417 – Train Yourself

Good morning people who shape your lives on the truth of God’s Word

Hebrews 5:13-14 NIV Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

A mark of maturity is training yourself to distinguish good from evil.

First, let me say something that sounds so simple, yet I believe it needs to be heard in the times that we live in. Good and evil still exist. That’s right. Many today find the word ‘evil’ too harsh and maybe not seeker sensitive enough. But we do ourselves no favours by prettying up those things that God calls evil.

And this is the second thing that needs to be said. God is the Author of good and the devil is the author of evil. God doesn’t do evil things and the devil doesn’t do good things. Yes, the devil sometimes comes masquerading as an angel of light, but he is still evil and all he does is evil.

God’s Word, not current culture, is to be our measure of what is good and what is evil. And it’s in God’s Word that the children of God need to meditate and saturate ourselves. This is part of the maturing process of every disciple of Jesus Christ.
