#4334 – Fulfil Righteousness

Good morning people who do what is proper in the sight of God

Matthew 3:15 NIV Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfil all righteousness.” Then John consented.

Jesus came to His cousin John and asked him to baptise Him.

At first, John understandably didn’t think it was the best idea. John had received a revelation of Who Jesus was and he thought it would be better if Jesus baptised him.

So, what changed John’s mind?

John consented after Jesus said that this action was proper; it was right.

But then He took it further and defined what proper is: proper is ‘to fulfil all righteousness’.

Righteousness is ‘being in right standing with God’. It is not based in good works, but it is based in obedient works.

As we make choices today, I pray we make proper choices; that is, choices that are in accordance to what God has said. This is how we fulfil all righteousness, and this is how God is glorified.
