#4333 – Holy Reverence

Good morning people who honour Jesus as the eternal Son of God

Matthew 3:11 NIV I baptise you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

This statement was made by John the Baptist. John was Jesus’ cousin and they were only months apart in age.

Naturally speaking, they would have known each other; they would have been familiar with each other, perhaps even friends.

Now listen to John’s words: “I am not worthy to carry His sandals.”

What incredible respect! What holy reverence!

Do we approach Jesus with holy reverence, or do we approach Jesus with casual over-familiarity?

And how do we approach our Heavenly Father?

Jesus Himself instructed us to talk to our Father in prayer from the starting place of “Holy is Your Name!”

May God be glorified and honoured by His people.
