Good morning people who correctly handle the Word of Truth
Matthew 4:5-6 NIV Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
The devil accurately quoted scripture to Jesus (he quoted Psalm 91:11-12).
He did not quote it to encourage, edify or build Jesus up. He quoted it as part of his temptation to Jesus.
This is insightful and it is an important point for us all.
Quoting scripture is not in itself a sign of godly spirituality. It is only a sign of knowledge.
We need God’s wisdom to correctly discern what God is wanting to say to us from His Word.
We need to handle the Word of God correctly, including when we speak it to ourselves and to other people.
2 Timothy 2:15 NIV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
