#4308 – Prayer Focus

Good morning people that make prayer about God and His plans

The greatest focus in prayer is God, not us; it is God’s kingdom, not our comfort; it is God’s will, not our will.

Too often, for too many, prayer has become all about us.

Now, I am not saying that praying about our lives and what is important to us is wrong. We are told to pray this way. But it is not the primary focus, and it’s this simple truth I want to point us to today.

The most famous prayer in the world is the prayer that Jesus prayed in Matthew 6. There is so much we can learn from it, but today I just want to point us to the focus and flow. It is clearly God first and us second.

May we all learn to pray as Jesus prayed, and may God’s kingdom come and God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:9-13 NIV “This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ’”
