#3621 – Look Again

Good morning people who don’t stop at the place of your present reality.

In my opinion, Jonah was a very flawed man. He ran away from God because he knew God was good and he didn’t want Him to be good to bad people (more on that later).

Yet even in his flawed state, there is something genuine and right about Jonah’s response to God. I love this verse:

Jonah 2:4 NIV I said, “I have been banished from Your sight; yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.”

Let me paraphrase what I see here:

“I am in my present predicament because of my own bad decisions. I don’t see You God or feel you God, and that is my fault. I got myself here because of my pride and my stubbornness, because of my disobedience in running away from You and what You told me to do. But this is not the end! As I turn back to You now, I know I will see You again! So today, yes right now while I am still inside this stinking fish, I will choose to look again towards You. I know I am far from perfect, but I am having a deeper revelation that I am nearer to Perfect Love Himself than I am often aware of. Forgive me Lord. Restore me Lord. Show me Your glory again Lord.”

Maybe you can relate. If so, your response can be the same as Jonah’s. You don’t have to clean yourself up, get yourself out of the mess, or have it all figured out. Just call out to God. Just desire to see God again. Just step towards Him.

Today is your day of reconnection with a loving and wonderful God.
