#2260 – Father Has Given

Good morning people who celebrate all our Father has completely given to us

Today I want to mention the fullness of the Father in our lives. Let me take you to the story of ‘The Prodigal Son’ as it is so often referred to. You can read about this in Luke 15:11-32, but for today, let me briefly summarise a few things.

A father had two sons. The younger asked for his inheritance (what his father had for him as a gift – it wasn’t earned). This son wasted his inheritance in selfish sinful living. When he came to his senses, he said to himself, “I will go back to my father and maybe he will accept me as a slave because I am not worthy to be a son.” As he was returning, his father (who was looking for his son’s return) ran to him, embraced him, covered his shame, restored him to sonship and celebrated by sacrificing and giving his best.

What an awesome story! What an incredible parable about God and us!

But there is another son; a son that is very much like us too. You see this older brother had not strayed from his father’s house, yet he was living largely like a servant, not a son. He had a view that his father wasn’t giving him all that he needed; there was more to receive.

Now let’s look at a powerful verse that is for each of us today:

Luke 15:31 (NIV) ‘My son,the father said, ‘you are always with Me, and everything I have is yours.’

WOW! Everything Father God has is ours – that’s what it says!!!

I’ve got to go a bit deeper tomorrow.
