Good morning people with faith in Jesus Christ,
Romans 2:25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.
In the Old Testament, circumcism was an outward sign that you belonged to a people who followed God. Maybe we can relate this to going to Church today.
But circumcism was pointless if the people didn’t follow God’s commands…just like going to Church is pointless unless we choose to follow God’s ways. It was people’s faith in God – like Abraham – that made them righteous, not their circumcism alone. It is our faith in God that makes us righteous, not going to Church alone.
I think it was Keith Green who once said, “Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger.”
Going to church is essential, the Bible makes that clear.
Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
But if going to Church does not translate to a change of heart and life, then it is useless. Going to church is great, but it is not the goal. The goal is a transformed life…and a transformed life starts with faith in Jesus Christ.
