#1293 – Changed Heart

Good morning people who surrender to God,

I can’t change my heart and you can’t change yours.

Sure I can change some of my behaviour, and I have over the years. I can stop doing some of the things I shouldn’t do, and I have. I can start doing some of the things I should, and I have. I can change behaviour, and so can you.

But I can’t change my heart. That’s what God does.

God changes hearts that are fully surrendered to Him. Heart change happens when we sincerely get to the place of, “Not my will, but Yours be done”. In other words, “God, I don’t want to live life my way because I know it’s not the best way. I want to do things Your way”.

This is where God can start to reveal truth to us. This is where the Holy Spirit can start to do a wonderful and deep work of transformation in our lives. You see a surrendered life and a changed heart go hand in hand. Our part is the surrendered life. God’s part is the changed heart.

Psalm 139:23-24 (NKJV) Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

So today, are you willing to surrender your life completely to God?

For those of you who are not yet Christians, this is where it starts. But also for those of you who are Christians, surrender is ongoing, as is heart change. This is a beautiful partnership between our surrender and God’s ability to do what we can’t.
