Good morning people who love God above all else,
(By Helen Calder – on team at DMM)
1 Kings 17:13-14 ‘Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the land.’”
God calls a widow at Zarephath to provide food for the prophet Elijah in a time of famine. This is an impossible task, given that the woman has only enough food left for one meal for herself and her son.
Now Elijah calls on her to exercise her faith, by instructing her to use the little that she has left to feed him first.
Whatever God is calling you to do for Him in this coming year, it is going to take faith to step out and do what He requires.
Today Jesus is saying, ‘Give to Me first. Give Me your time, give Me your devotion, give Me your provision, give Me your obedience.’
And as you do, you will see a miracle take place. You will not only have sufficient for His purposes, but you will have enough to provide for yourself and others around you.
What is it today that He is asking to give to Him first?
