#6558 – Christ in You

Good morning people who meditate on the life and pattern of Jesus Christ.

John 8:13-18 NIV The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.” Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”

Jesus was accused of many things that weren’t true. He was ridiculed and mocked. He was despised and rejected. Many people missed the Promised One because they expected something different.

And yet Jesus fulfilled His mission that He was given by His Father.

How did He do this? What enabled Him to not give up?

“I know where I came from and where I am going.”

These words are powerful. They speak to origin and destination. This correct focus empowered Jesus to be faithful to His Father and to finish the work that He was given to do.

Hebrews 12:2 NIV Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

“I stand with the Father, who sent me.”

Even when walking on earth, Jesus was intimate with His Father. He rightly declared, “I only do what I see my Father doing” (John 5:19), and He could only do this because He was rightfully in the Father and the Father was in Him (John 14:9-11).

Here is the truth about your life:

Galatians 2:20 NIV I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Our confidence comes from the One who lives in us.
