#6502 – A Good Father

Good morning people whose Father in heaven gives good gifts to His children.

Matthew 7:9-11 NIV “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Sometimes we can subtly and subconsciously believe the lie that we are nicer than God. let me explain.

We accept that we want to do good to others. We like to help people and even give generously to people. When we know that people need bread, we give them bread, not a stone. When someone needs encouragement, we encourage them, we don’t criticize them.

There is something in us that wants to be a blessing to others.

So, why do we believe an infinitely better and perfect God would withhold from us what is best for us?

God is good and God is our Provider!

God’s provision is not always what we want. In these moments, we can think that God is not providing, but the truth is, God is protecting. Like a parent who doesn’t give a child everything they want, God also doesn’t always provide everything that we want. He knows best and He is working for our best.

Keep on asking your Father for good gifts.

Sometimes what is needed in prayer is persistence. Yes, God knows what we need before we ask (Matthew 6:7-8), but there is repeated instruction in Scripture that tells us to keep on praying (Luke 18:1-8).

Do you believe that Your God is a good Father who provides what you need?

Do you need to continue in prayer while you are waiting to receive good gifts from your heavenly Father?

Father, thank You that You are good and You are my Provider. I am so grateful by Your heart that is always for me. Thank You that You love me enough to sometimes say no to me or not yet. I trust You. I love You Lord.
