#63 – But What About?

Good morning God-honouring people

There’s an amazing story in 2 Chronicles 25:5-10 which I encourage you to read. King Amaziah of Judah got his troops together and hired 100,000 fighting men from Israel for a large sum of sliver (about 3.4 metric tons). Then a man of God comes to him and tells him not to use the men from Israel; in fact, he says that even if they fight courageously, God will overthrow them because God has the power to help or to overthrow. Amaziah ends up obeying the word of the Lord but in between is verse 9. I believe there’s something in it for all of us today.

2 Chronicles 25:9 Amaziah asked the man of God, “BUT WHAT ABOUT the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” The man of God replied, “The Lord can give you much more than that.”

Listen to me men and women of God, what will you do when you have invested large amounts of money, time and energy into something and God says “I don’t want you to continue doing that”? We might argue that changing course would be a bad stewardship of what we have invested. Maybe naturally speaking that is true BUT obedience to the Word and will of God is always the right way to walk forward. Obedience shouldn’t be limited to logic. Many times people hesitate or stop because of these three words “But what about?” The key is found in the statement “The Lord can give you much more than that.”

Do you trust God enough to change course after you have committed yourself to something if God gives a different direction?

Do you trust that God can give much more than what you have invested?

Do you trust and will you obey?
