#6064 – Be a Servant

Good morning people who follow the example of Jesus and Paul.

Romans 1:1 MEV Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God.

Paul was an incredible man of God, and yet his introduction of himself in this epistle (letter) was as a servant of Jesus Christ.

A servant serves. I know that this is deep, but it’s good to come back to the simplicity of truth. Servants serve. Servants give themselves up for another’s will. Servants are those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among people. Servants devote themselves to another to the disregard of one’s own interests.

Jesus came as a servant to do His Father’s will.

Philippians 2:5-8 MEV Let this mind be in you all, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped. But He emptied Himself, taking upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in the form of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross

Jesus served to the point of death so that we could have life. This is the most generous act of serving that the world has ever seen. And yet, we must remember, that Jesus is our example in all things.

Many today want to be leaders. The disciples argued about being great. And yet Jesus told us clearly what the priority of heaven is for us all:

Matthew 20:26b MEV Whoever would be great among you, let him be your servant,

You are called to be a servant of Jesus Christ.
