Good morning people who step deeper into the heart of the God of Freedom.
Mark 1:23-26 NIV Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
When was the last time an evil spirit manifested in your church meeting?
Now that I have your attention, let’s look into the Word of God at Jesus’ heart for people.
Wherever Jesus went, He brought freedom to people. On the way to freedom happening, there was often demonic activity that needed to be dealt with.
Jesus is in a synagogue teaching and a man with an impure spirit manifests. Jesus was not perturbed by this, nor did He see it as a rude interruption to the nice meeting He was having.
Jesus saw a man who needed to be set free.
Did you know the word freedom means deliverance?
God’s heart is always to set the captives free. Whether it is from demon possession or demon oppression, Jesus took authority over demons and drove them out with a word.
We need to have the same spiritual discernment and insight today as children of our Father in heaven. As people who are to be like Jesus in this world (John 4:17), we are not to be afraid of the demonic, but rather, we are to take authority over them and to cast them out.
But don’t forget the master key to spiritual authority over demons.
James 4:7 NIV Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
If we are not truly submitted to God and to His undisputed Lordship in our lives, the demons do not have to listen to us or obey us. There is a right order in the spiritual realm, and it’s submission to God first, then it’s resisting the devil.
Is your authority recognised in the realm of the spirit?
May our hearts yearn for people to be free indeed in Jesus’ name.
