#5709 – Health & Strength

Good morning people who position yourself for the power of God to move in your body.

Proverbs 3:7-8 MEV Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and strength to your bones.

These are some verses that could be open to misinterpretation and even disappointment. Therefore, we can tend to avoid speaking to them because we don’t want to offend or upset people. I am no different.

But I do want to handle the Word of God correctly, and I don’t want to create theology and doctrine out of my own understanding – the verses just before our scripture for today address that very reality. So, today, let’s not shrink back, condemn or judge, but rather, let’s lean into Father speaking, and into the declaration of Father’s intention.

There is a biblical instruction here to get our wisdom from our fear of the Lord and from departing from evil. Both are essential. As we learn to ‘not lean on our own understanding’, something is being set up for us to walk in health and strength (and this is where I don’t want to lose, offend or upset people).

The bible instructs us to ‘lay hands on the sick and they shall recover’ (Mark 16:18). This is what Jesus’ said to His disciples, and it is part of what we are also commissioned to walk in. The reality is, sometimes when I lay hands on the sick, they recover, and sometimes they don’t. But that doesn’t stop the truth being the truth. Nor does it stop me praying, believing and anticipating miracles of healing, even when I don’t see it in my present reality.

The same applies to these verses above, and here is the simple truth: When we fear the Lord and depart from evil, we are strengthened by the Lord.

My prayer is that this will be an increasing reality in all of our lives as we continue to trust in the One who is faithful and true.
