Good morning people who never plateau in your pursuit of the things of God.
Proverbs 1:5-6 MEV A wise man will hear and will increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and the interpretation, the words of the wise and their riddles.
‘A wise man (person) will hear’.
Listening is not enough. We need to hear. Hearing words is not enough. We need to give our full attention to what God has said and what God is saying by His Spirit.
‘A wise man (person) will increase learning’.
Your present understanding is insufficient. Why? Because, in God, there is always more. The Spirit wants to continue to lead us into all truth. Presently, we see in part and we know in part – there is more to discover in God, there always is.
Never stop learning and growing and listening to God and to other wise men and women of God. That’s right – learn from other people, and not just from God. Oh, I feel some kingdom alignment coming now.
‘A man (person) of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and the interpretation, the words of the wise and their riddles.’
If you want to understand what God is saying, attain wise counsel. Seek out people who will help you spiritually process what God is saying. As my very wise Dad has always said, “Isolation breeds error”. It’s very true.
We need each other if we are going to grow into the fullness of the stature of Jesus Christ.
How is your hearing, your ongoing learning, and your commitment to seeking out wise counsel?
A little postscript here: Wise counsel is not counsel from people who will tell you what you want to hear. Wise counsel is counsel that comes directly from the throne of God and the Word of God.
