#5669 – Reclaiming Focus

Good morning people who keep the main thing the main thing this year.

The word focus means the center of interest or activity. It also means the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition. When you combine these two definitions through a spiritual lens, the reality is powerful!

Jesus Christ is to remain the center of our focus; He is to remain the center of our interest and our activity.

When this happens, Jesus will also bring focus to our lives; He will bring clarity and definition to what we see. We don’t look through circumstances to try and see Jesus. Rather, we look through Jesus at circumstances, and through Him, clarity comes.

In the storms, look at Christ. In the success, look at Christ. In the waiting, look at Christ. In every season and in every situation, look at Christ.

Hebrews 12:2 NIV Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Do you glance at Jesus, or do you fix your eyes on Jesus?

Casual or occasional glances will not produce the righteous way of living that brings glory to the Father. Jesus kept His eyes on His Father, and through looking at Jesus, we are blessed to be able to do the same.

I want to speak into an argument that I hear some of you saying in your mind today. For some, I hear you say, “Steve, you don’t know my situation. I can’t do what you’re saying; I can’t keep my focus on Jesus.”

My loving response to you is this: Because of your situation, it is imperative that you do keep your focus on Jesus. The alternative doesn’t work.

May 2024 be a year where Jesus truly does remain the main focus of our lives. May righteousness, peace and joy flow from looking at Jesus.
