Good morning people who lift up your confidence in God above your circumstances.
Psalms 27:13-14 NIV I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
This is an important scripture for many people today who are waiting to see the goodness of the Lord in certain parts of their lives. I believe this is for everyone.
David is essentially stating that he is choosing to remain confident in God’s goodness. Think about this. Our confidence lies somewhere and in something. The question is where and what?
As a believer in Jesus Christ, there are promises of God that we are yet to see come to pass. Our choice is whether we add our ‘amen’ (let it be) to what God has said or to our present reality.
When we have been waiting a long time, it is easy to ‘get weary in doing good’. I don’t believe any of us are exempt to having these moments. The important thing is to not allow these moments to become our ongoing normal.
God wants to strengthen our hearts today in Him. God wants us to have an expectation of His goodness. God wants us to wait on Him.
This waiting is not a sitting back and doing nothing. This waiting is a leaning into Him. Remember the context of this whole chapter: it is about beholding the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him.
There is no easy answer to some of our waiting, but there is a good Father who wants to walk every moment of every day with us, including in the valley of the shadow of death. God with us is a powerful truth to enter into. Paul experienced this in prison while he continued to encourage and strengthen the church.
May our eyes be firmly fixed on the everlasting God of heaven and earth. May His strength be our strength as we anticipate His goodness in the land of the living.
