#5582 – More of God

Good morning people who don’t allow anything to keep you from pursuing God more.

Yes, it is true, if we have God, then we have received God in His fullness. He does not give Himself in portions, and He does not give more of Himself when we are ‘better people.’

And yet part of the unlimited mystery and wonder of who God is and how God works is that He reveals more of Himself to the hungry heart. It’s not a contradiction, it’s simply a kingdom truth.

God responds to hunger. He always has and He always will.

I’ve known God my whole life and I have been privileged to grow up in an incredible Christian home. And yet I find myself today desiring more of God – to know Him more accurately and fully – more than ever before. I’ve tasted and seen God’s goodness, and while I am grateful, I am increasingly hungry beyond measure!

I want more of God!

It seems John the Baptist had the same yearning. Here’s how he so perfectly articulated the cry of my heart:

John 3:30 AMPC “He must increase, but I must decrease. [He must grow more prominent; I must grow less so.]”

Let’s not get stuck on wording – “Is it more of God or more revelation of God?” Come on my friends, let’s just yearn for Him!

The apostle Paul zealously yearned for this too:

Philippians 3:7-8 NIV “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.”

Paul had Christ, and yet He deeply desired to gain Christ. Again, don’t let wording keep you from pursuing. Paul wanted to know Christ Jesus more.

Oh God, we need you and we want more of you!
