#5572 – Father is Working

Good morning people who partner with what you see Father doing.

John 5:16-17 NIV So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”

The reason why Jesus was working on the Sabbath was because His Father was working. In other words, Jesus was working because His Father was working.

I love the following insightful scripture that Jesus spoke:

John 5:19 NIV Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

Jesus didn’t initiate His work; He simply did what He saw His Father doing. This tells me that Jesus kept His eyes on His Father. He did not come to earth to fulfill His own mission, but to finish the work His Father gave Him to do. This is also how He brought glory to His Father.

We are called to live the same way.

Ephesians 2:10 NIV For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

As you walk through your day, keep your eyes on Father.

Ask Him, “What are You doing Father?”

Follow this with the prayer, “Father, what do You want me to do in this situation?”

Like Jesus, may we all be about our Father’s business; may we work while Father is working and where Father is working.
