Good morning people who are safest in the arms of a loving God.
Psalms 3:1-4 NIV Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.
David wrote this Psalm when he was fleeing for his life from his own son, Absalom. It doesn’t get much more difficult than this.
Maybe your challenge is different, but it can seem just as large. It might be relational, emotional, mental, physical, financial, and the list can go on. No one should minimise what you are walking through.
David was aware of the voices that declared, “God will not deliver him.” These were physical voices of opposition that tried to put doubt and fear in David’s heart. Maybe the voices you face are internal, but they can still be just as loud.
Like David, my prayer and encouragement to us all today is to turn to the Lord. This is not cliché nor is it just “the Christian thing to do.” This truly is where our confidence, hope and contentment comes from.
The Lord is a shield around us. He hems us in behind and before (Psalm 139:5). He is our strong tower, our refuge and our strength (Psalm 61:3). When we hide ourselves in Him, no weapon forged against us will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
When my head drops because of weariness and fear, the Lord is the One who lifts my head high. My enemies will not triumph over me (Psalm 25:1).
And a most beautiful part of Father’s heart to me is that, when I call to Him, He will answer me.
My prayer for you today is that this Psalm will be like water to your soul. May God’s life, peace, joy and protection be your portion in Jesus’ name.
