#5488 – Our Father

Good morning people who pray into what is on the Father’s heart.

Luke 11:2 NKJV So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Our prayers should be directed to our Father. This is what Jesus said when He was asked about prayer.

And today as I meditate on this verse again, I’m drawn to these three things about the Father: Your name, Your kingdom and Your will.

Your name is focused on the character of God. This is talking about His nature; who He is. This is what we worship Him for.

Your kingdom is focused on the authority of God. This is talking about His rule; He is the Lord God Almighty! This is what we are privileged to partner in with Him here on earth.

Your will is focused on the determination of God. This is talking about His creation; His pattern and His design. This is God declaring what a thing is! We are called to submit fully and willingly to this in its entirety.

And overarching all of this is one of the most important statements in the Bible: On earth as it is in heaven. This is our measure, our standard, our filter.

Prayer is no small thing and prayer is no natural thing. Prayer is a conversation with the Divine. Prayer is partnership with the Holy One.

And it all starts with, “Our Father in heaven.”
