#5411 – A Protected People

Good morning people who recognise the goodness of God in the laws of God.

Exodus 19:10-12 NIV And the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, because on that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death.

When God is present, there is power. And not just a little trickle of power, but indescribable and uncontainable power!

This power is wonderful beyond measure when it is at work on our behalf. Oh, how we love this! When God moves, things move; things shift and change, and transformation is the result.

It is a different story when God’s power is working against us. God doesn’t set His heart against us – not at all. He is for us, the Scripture is very clear on this.

But God’s power works in accordance with God’s will. As we live in obedience to all that God has said, His power works in us and through us and on our behalf.

Therefore, why does God put limits and laws on His people?

God only puts limits on people to protect them, not to control them.

From the very beginning, we see the nature of our loving Father who warns His children not to eat from just one tree – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil – because if they do, they will die. God’s whole motivation for His warning was His protection for His beloved children.

Nothing has changed.
