Good morning people who fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully.
1 Samuel 12:24-25 NIV “But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will perish.”
We live in challenging and dangerous times. The children of Israel – God’s people – also lived in challenging and dangerous times.
I believe that this scripture is a prophetic warning for many children of God today. Let’s look at it.
Samuel exhorts God’s people with the holy instruction to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully by considering what great things He has done for them.
There really is a connection between meditating on the good things God has done and serving Him faithfully with all of our heart. A holy fear of the Lord is healthy and right.
Samuel then concludes with the holy warning that if they persist in doing evil, both them and their king will perish. We clearly hear God’s heart towards His people continually, but there is also an acknowledgment that persisting in doing evil will result in death.
I will be bold enough today and say that an increasing number of “Christians” are persisting in doing evil. They even take it a step further and they now call evil good. Some claim to know better than God and they make it their pursuit to tell you why the Bible does not mean what it says.
Once again, God’s love, mercy and forgiveness for every person is just one heartfelt, honest and humble prayer of repentance away. This is His heart and desire for every person. It is mine too.
But there will come a day when enough is enough. This is not the time to play games with God’s kindness. These are days to be holy even as God is holy. This is what honours and pleases Him.
