#5260 – Contentment in God

Good morning people who are completely reliant on God for all that you need.

I found myself praying the following prayer:

Lord, please teach me contentment when there is no clarity and no closure.

With some things, we will not get clarity on why it did or did not happen.

For some things, we will not get closure.

But in all things, we truly can know what it is to live content in the Lord.

There is a place – a difficult place, a barren place, a confusing place – where our intimacy with Father can be deepened and our confidence in Him can be strengthened.

The apostle Paul faced this numerous times through countless trials. And yet it was Paul who wrote these empowering words:

Philippians 4:12-13 NIV I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

In one of David’s most famous Psalms, he declared the same thing in different words:

Psalms 23:4-5 NIV Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

If we have God, we have all we need.
