Good morning people who position yourself to hear from God.
Jeremiah 1:4 NIV The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
As a prophet, I can spend substantial time looking for a word from God. The problem with this is that it can be subjective. Honestly, we can get in the way of hearing clearly because we are striving to hear.
I love this simple little verse in Jeremiah that is also repeated by several other prophets in the Bible:
The word of the Lord came to me.
You have heard me say this before, but it bears repeating:
God said, “Give Me some Word to work with.”
The more time we spend in God’s Word with an ear inclined to listen to God, the more we will hear Him speak. Of this I am convinced.
But I also know that the Holy Spirit loves to pass on the Father’s heart through people who follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially prophecy (1 Corinthians 14:1).
There is a difference between fervently asking God to speak to you so that you can bless others, and you striving to come up with a word for someone. The first focuses on God and His heart for people. The second focuses on us. It’s subtle, but it’s a potential game changer for some of you reading this.
Saturate yourself in God, in His Word, in Who He is, and in desiring to bless others. With this focus, the word of the Lord will come to you.
