Good morning people who reap the benefit of the overflow of being in Christ.
John 15:3-4 NIV “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
I think every believer wants to be fruitful. I do, and I’m sure you do.
By fruitful, I firstly mean ‘the fruit of the Spirit’. We want our lives to reflect God accurately. We want His life to overflow and be clearly seen in our lives.
Secondly, I am talking about ‘the success of what God has called us to do’. I’m not talking about natural success and accomplishing what we want to do. Rather, I am talking about the fruitfulness of the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do.
Again, we all want to be fruitful, and this is wonderful.
Jesus knows this and He tells us plainly how we can be fruitful. He again points us to remaining in Him.
I feel we need to hear today, that remaining in Jesus is not a chore that needs to be done. Not at all. Remaining in Jesus is remaining in life! This is what we were created to do from the very beginning. We were created by God and we were created to remain in God.
We are talking about intimacy here. We are talking about an inseparable oneness with God.
So, I want to shift our focus today. Some of us reading this need to shift from “I must remain in Jesus so that I can be fruitful”, to “I am guaranteed to produce fruit because I have the joy of being connected to the true vine!”
Oh how we need a revival of the privilege of what it is to be connected with Jesus!
