#5125 – Submitted to the Father

Good morning people who know the power of coming under the Father’s authority.

John 14:10 NIV “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

Jesus did not come to earth to do His own will or to speak His own words. He came to fulfill His Father’s plan for Him. This is powerful!

As the Son of God and as God the Son, the words and works of Jesus would always be perfect. We must remember that Jesus is God.

Yet even as God, Jesus submitted Himself to His Father’s will of coming to earth, and to His Father’s will for what He did while on the earth (and indeed for all eternity). Such humility! Such an example to us all.

Jesus himself has incredible authority, yet He tells us plainly that He did not speak on His own authority, but on His Father’s authority. Everything about Jesus and the way He lived points us to His total dependence on and submission to His Father. How then can we live any differently?

Slowly meditate on the following three scriptures that clearly reveal to us that Jesus lived completely submitted to His Father.

John 5:19 NIV Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”

Luke 10:22 NIV All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

Matthew 28:18 NIV Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Jesus was given authority from His Father in heaven. Wow! This is how the kingdom of God truly works.
