#5085 – Prayer & Instruction

Good morning people who pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ.

1 Samuel 12:23 NIV As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.

This is a very interesting statement from Israel’s leader. He knows that the children of Israel continue to be rebellious and sin against the Lord. With this knowledge, it’s very easy to get into the mindset of, “Well, you’re on your own!”

But instead, Samuel shows us an important truth of the need to continually pray for the people of God. In fact, he says, “If I don’t pray for you, I’ll be sinning against the Lord.” WOW!

Why is this?

Because these were God’s chosen people. This was about Samuel fighting in the spirit on their behalf, for the Lord’s sake. Like we said yesterday, this was about Samuel honouring the reputation of God; this was about praying for the people, for His name’s sake.

Don’t give up on the very people that God wants you to pray for.

In addition to praying for the people of God, Samuel committed to teaching them the way that is good and right.

These are significant days that we live in, and people need prayer and people need instruction in truth.
