#5079 – Rights & Duties

Good morning people who are privileged and honoured to be called by God.

1 Samuel 10:25 NIV Samuel explained to the people the rights and duties of kingship. He wrote them down on a scroll and deposited it before the Lord. Then Samuel dismissed the people to go to their own homes.

God-appointed kingship has both rights and duties.

As believers today, we are called kings and priests of God (Jesus is the King of kings – we are those kings).

We too have spiritual rights (things that we can legally claim) and we have spiritual duties (things that we have a responsibility to do due to our position as royal sons and daughters).

However, we can’t claim the rights of the kingdom if we aren’t obedient to fulfil the duties of the kingdom. The spiritual law of sowing and reaping applies when it comes to God’s kingdom.

But nor should we focus on the need to fulfil our spiritual duties without the healthy platform of understanding and walking in our spiritual rights. Our starting place is that we have been given so much in God! We are His dearly loved children!

There is a holy responsibility on the people of God to walk in kingdom authority, and this includes an accurate view and handling of both rights and duties.
