#5076 – No Mixture

Good morning people who do not look to people instead of to God.

1 Samuel 8:19-20 NIV But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

Wanting to be like other nations and like other people is a curse to be avoided.

The children of Israel were the chosen people of God. He called them to Himself and called them to be like Himself. But they wanted to be like other nations.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we too are God’s chosen people who have been called to Him and called to be like Him. Yet often we want to be like others.

When we are called to follow the Lord and serve Him only, mixture will lead to devastation.

The children of Israel used to rely on God to lead them, to go before them and to fight their battles. Victory was the result. Now they want a man to do this for them.

Whenever we look to man to do what God is meant to do in our lives, we have lost our way. It’s not irreversible, but it must be realigned. Mankind cannot fill the place of God in our lives.

It is time for the people of God to be the people of God. It’s time to be set apart as holy unto Him. It’s time to look to the Lord to be our sufficiency and our strength.

We are not called to be like other nations and other people. We are called to know God and to be like Him.
